Use BrewRatioNest as a reproducible worksheet for home coffee brewing. Start with the question the tool actually models, then keep its inputs and assumptions visible.
Follow the input sequence
- Weigh dry grounds in grams using your scale.
- Enter the water mass per gram of coffee; 16 represents a 1:16 recipe.
- If planning a different batch, enter its brew-water target in grams.
- Keep the brewer and grind recorded when comparing the two recipes.
Read the result in context
An 18 g coffee dose at 1:16 uses 288 g of brew water. For a separate 500 g water target at the same ratio, the coffee dose is 31.25 g. These are illustrative recipe inputs; absorbed water and retained liquid mean the beverage yield will differ.
A mass-ratio planner, not a measurement of extraction, caffeine, water chemistry or taste. The defaults are examples rather than a universal brewing prescription.
Keep your own record
Calculator numbers are not saved by the theme. Copy or print the record you need before closing the page. Reset restores the example, and a blank or invalid input produces an error message. The calculator requires JavaScript for live results; its written formula remains readable without it.
